Twin girls found nude, neglected in Liberty Co. home

Child Protective Services has taken custody of two-year-old twin girls after they were allegedly found naked and locked in a bedroom of a Liberty County home. Liberty County Sheriff's Department officials tell KTRH television partner KPRC Local 2 that the room contained only a single blanket and smelled of human waste.

Saturday morning, authorities received a a call about a home in the 200 block of County Road 2283. Federal probation officers arrived to check on the girls' mother, who is awaiting trial on a human trafficking charge.

She wasn't there, but her sister, Amy Castillo, was, and she allowed the officers into the home. That's when the officers heard scratching coming from a door leading to a bedroom.

After getting permission from Castillo, the double locked door was opened and the girls were found inside the room. They were retrieved, examined and found to be in "satisfactory physical condition according to the sheriff's department.

The girls' mother arrived and told the officers she was only gone a short while.

Both women are being charged. Amy Castillo, is being charged with child abandonment and endangerment. Charges againt the mother are filed, and waiting to be accepted.

CPS says the girls will undergo a examinations, then placed in a foster home. The agency will be asking a judge to sign an emergency removal order on Monday.
