Top Texas Lawmakers Sound Off On Immigration Crisis

Some of the state’s top Republicans checked out the centers where illegal immigrant children are currently being held. And they all blame one man for the humanitarian crisis that is going on right now.

Senator Ted Cruz and Attorney General Greg Abbott toured the facility at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio. Cruz says this would not have happened if the President had been tougher on immigration.

“We are witnessing a humanitarian crisis unfolding that is the direct consequence of President Obama’s lawlessness. The direct consequence of amnesty is that we have seen the number of children take the incredible risk that go with crossing the border grow exponentially,” Cruz told reporters.

Abbott told FOX News this is a long term situation.

“The problem will persist for years unless the Obama Administration steps up and does what it’s supposed to do under the Constitution,” Abbott explained.

And at a detention facility in Waco, Governor Rick Perry says the Obama Administration must make it clear our borders are closed.

“If the message doesn’t get out into those countries in Central America you are going to see a trail of tears again from Central America to Texas,” Perry stated.

In other developments, the Federal government plans to convert a 55-thousand square foot warehouse in South Texas into a processing facility for illegal immigrant children.  The center would be less than a mile away from the Rio Grande Valley border station. According to the Associated Press there is no timetable as to when it will be opened.

And while this is going on here, the government of Australia is apparently offering people seeking asylum $10 thousand dollars each to return to the countries they came from.
