Teen surrenders, claiming he painted shuttle replica

Authorities say 19-year-old Jesse Ray Calloway surrendered to the Harris County Precinct 8’s Constable Office Friday afternoon for his role in vandalizing the Space Shuttle Independence replica at Space Center Houston

It was back on November 27, 2013 when deputies were called out to the scene of the shuttle replica on Nasa Parkway. That's when they first discovered racial slurs and other offensive graffiti, painted onto the replica which stretches 122.7 foot long and 54 foot high.

Investigators say anonymous tips helped lead to charges being brought against Calloway.  The teen is now charged with Title 7 offense of Graffiti and is free on $1,000 bond for now.

However, they don't believe he acted alone. Authorities are still looking for other vandals who could be involved.  Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Chris Yetter at (281) 488-4040.
