Survey: Houston Among Best Places to Get Rich

A new survey ranks Houston number nine when it comes to the best U.S. cities for “getting rich.”  Not only does the Bayou City benefit from the oil and medical industries, Charles Tran at CreditDonkey.com says the city also boasts more than 6,000 local patents, meaning innovation is on the rise as well.

“GDP growth is at 6% right now, and when we looked at the high-income percentage, its almost hitting 12% of households bringing in over $150,000 a year,” Tran tells KTRH News.

Affordable housing also helps fatten our wallets.

“There's almost no sector Houston isn't doing well in,” says Tran.  “Even for young professionals the average starting salary is almost $38,000 which is actually pretty high compared to most other markets.”

Not to say any of this goes to our heads, Houston ranked a modest 17th on a separate list of “most snobbiest” cities in the U.S..
