SJL New Homeland Security Chief?

The Congressional Black Caucus recommends Houston Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee as the next Homeland Security chief, saying she "stands as a strong and honest voice of reason.”

The CBC says Jackson Lee "understands the importance of increasing border security and maintaining homeland security.”

GOP blogger Bryan Preston thinks there are dozens of other people more qualified to replace Janet Napolitano.

“I'm terrifying,” Preston tells KTRH News.  “This is a person who doesn't know the difference between the Moon and Mars, this is the person who thinks Americans should just give up their guns to be 'part of America.'”

Jackson Lee has served on several committees since being elected to Congress in 1995, and was the Chairwoman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection.

“Someone's presence on a committee does not make them qualified to head up a full blown department,” says Preston.  “In fact, Sheila Jackson Lee has been named by her own subordinates as the worse boss on Capitol Hill.”
