It may be the ultimate scratch and sniff. What if you could taste a new sandwich or dessert without going to the restaurant? The "digital lollipop" makes that promise.
Houston ad guru Bill Fogarty says there's more to food than taste. There's texture, smell and how it looks.
"Just being able to evaluate the taste without actually coming in contact with the product would be extremely difficult but if it could be done I could see where it could have an advantage."
But Fogarty says this technology seems a way off.
"I think it's probably something that neither you nor I have to worry about in the immediate future."
Researchers at the National University of Singapore are trying to perfect the digital lollipop. No word on whether you'd use it at home or share it at some restaurant. They say it could be on your smart phone.
