Privacy Settings Change in Facebook

Following changes to the privacy settings in Facebook you won't be able to hide your timeline anymore.

Facebook announced they have removed the option that allowed users to be unsearchable.  This allowed people to hide their feed or timeline from anyone searching by their name.

The change means that employers can now easily do background checks on their employees or applicants by simply searching their name.   John Challenger with the placement firm Challenger Grey and Christmas says in today's world everyone has a public image to uphold, "Employers are going to use any and all means to gather positive or negative information on prospective employees."

Facebook had removed the option to be unsearchable last year for anyone who was not using it.  But, then removed the option completely, even for those still using it.

Challenger says like celebrities, social media means you can't hide anything, "Everything you do is out there, forever."
