Police to Use Surveillance to Catch Hit-and-Run Driver

Houston police say they will use surveillance-video to catch a hit-and-run driver.

A driver killed a 40-year-old man Saturday morning at the busy corner of Bellaire and Gessner.  Police say the victim was trying to cross the street when the suspect car struck the man.

Police say the car is thought to be a white Honda Accord.  Crash scene investigators say there have been two other fatal car-pedestrian accidents in that same area recently.  In each case, the pedestrian tried to cross the street in the middle of a construction zone that is not well lit.

More than 50 street lights in that part of town have been removed as part of a road improvement project.  That construction should be finished by October.
