Plans Set for Houston Holiday Bash

You'll want to circle Friday December 6 on your calendar.  Houston Mayor Annise Parker says that's when the city will host its annual Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

"This is the 94th year that the city of Houston has had an official start to the holiday season," Parker said Thursday.

Parker will light the city's official tree around 6pm that day; it's a 61-foot White Fir which should arrive next weekend.

"That tree, which has sacrificed itself for the city of Houston and is part of our celebration, will become the first tree we recycle post holiday season," she says.

Headlining the entertainment will be Cypress-native and last season's winner of NBC's "The Voice" Danielle Bradbery.

"We're excited to continue to watch Danielle, we saw her each week as she came in and delivered strong, and we're excited about seeing her come and celebrate with us," said Reliant president Elizabeth Killinger.
