Celebrity cook Paula Deen became emotional during her visit to Houston as she was greeted by a supportive crowd that gave her a standing ovation at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show in Reliant Center.
She told the crowd "Y'all's hearts are as big as your state."
About 1,500 people attended Saturday's event which was Deen's first public appearance since June when it was revealed that in an earlier legal deposition she acknowledged using racial slurs. The admission lead to her cooking show being cancelled by the Food Network and the loss of several endorsements worth millions.
During Saturday’s show Deen held two cooking demonstrations, including tips on how to make peanut butter pie.
