Middle class jobs lost in recession replaced with equal or better

Middle class jobs lost in recession replaced with equal or better

It's become common for critics to dismiss Governor Rick Perry's claim Texas is a leader in creating jobs by saying those are burger flipping jobs. But John Challenger at outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas says that's not true.

"The highest unemployment right now, far and away, is for people without a high school degree."

Challenger says it's certainly true middle class jobs were lost during the recession. But he says they weren't replaced with minimum wage jobs.

"Right now if you have a college degree unemployment is below 4% in this economy."

Challenger says recent summers have seen economic slowdowns and we'll have to see how this one goes.
