Men and Women Go for Different Perks

Men and women share the desire to advance in the work place but the similarities end there.

A new study by Randstad U.S. says there are some interesting differences between the sexes when it comes to reasons that men and women pick new jobs.  According to the survey more women care about the location of their job than men do. The study also says women care more about schedule flexibility than men.

Sandra Yancey who is the founder of eWomenNetwork, one of the largest women's networking organizations in the world, says in her experience women want clear goals and expectations, "what women are wanting is the ability to say, what is it that you want from me, what do you want it to look like, how do you define excellence..."

The study did find common ground between the sexes in the interest of advancement.  Both men and women care very much about their chances for promotion and higher responsibility.
