Man Charged After Attacking Grammy-Award Winning Singer In Houston

After a five month investigation, a man has been charged in the beating of Oscar De La Rosa, the lead singer of Grammy-award winning Tejano group La Mafia.  Jared Avila was charged with assault after he was picked out of a photo lineup.  In May Avila assaulted De La Rosa outside of Blur Bar in Houston.  Houston police say De La Rosa and a friend were leaving the bar when Avila struck the singer in the head several times before fleeing the scene.  The man was upset because De La Rosa did not want to take a picture with him or sign an autograph.  Avila was arrested and has already posted bail.
