Mack Brown’s Last Stand at the Alamodome

Mack Brown’s Last Stand at the Alamodome

The Texas Longhorns couldn't send Mack Brown out a winner as they lost to the Oregon Ducks at the Alamo Bowl  30-7.  The Longhorns went 8-and-4 this season with a 7-and-2 big 12 mark.

Brown resigned earlier this month but stayed on to coach the bowl game and received warm goodbyes from a sellout crowd in what was practically a home game for Texas.  The school marching band spelled his name at halftime, and the halter over Bevo's face was emblazoned with the word "MACK."

As for his replacement, Louisville's Charlie Strong, Baylor's Art Briles, and Florida State's Jimbo Fisher have all been mentioned as possibilities.  Mack Brown leaves Austin as the second-winningest coach in school history... behind only Darryl Royal.
