If you are one of the many people who waited until the last second to get your Christmas shopping done, you’re not alone. There are many others, and you might very well see them at the mall today.
There are different reasons why people wait until the last minute. Some people just don't want to deal with the headache. Others had a different reason.
“I started shopping in September. I thought I was ahead of the game. But then I just stopped,” one shopper told KTRH.
Another shopper said she just gets too busy to make it to the mall.
“I work during the week. And I’m too tired to go during the weekend,” that shopper said.
And then there are those shoppers with bigger priorities.
“I have two daughters. It’s so difficult to go shopping with them,” this shopper explained.
The one thing these shoppers realized was when they finally got to the mall, the people they encountered weren’t necessarily in the Christmas spirit.
“There are a lot of people who are frustrated, grumpy and rude,” one shopper explained.
Therapist Julie Nise tells KTRH people put off their Christmas shopping because of the pressure that comes along with it. But that thinking backfires more often than not.
“It’s only temporary because then you have to deal with what you were delaying in the first place,” Nise explained.
But there might be another reason we put it off.
“You want to make sure you get something good. That sometimes makes people really spend time thinking about it,” Nice explained.
Whatever the reason is, time is running out. And if you haven’t gotten your shopping done, time isn’t on your side.
