KC is a Rough Place for a First Start

In a bit of a surprise, Texans coach Gary Kubiak has announced Houston Cougars' star Case Keenum will get his first real taste of the NFL in the league's loudest stadium Sunday. He's been named starter against the Chiefs and Matt Schaub will not play.

Former Texans sack specialist N.D. Kalu says it might have been wiser to wait until game time to announce the quarterback.

"When you're a defensive player or defensive coordinator and you don't know who you're preparing for then you have to spend time preparing for multiple quarterbacks and that takes away from their preparation."

Kalu says the struggling Texans need to generate turnovers.

"You need to be like Kansas City where the turnover margin's plus 12 to their favor, you know, I think that's the best in the league right now. Those are the type of plays you need to make to uplift your offense."

Kalu says lost in all of the quarterback controversy is the season ending injury to safety Danieal Manning.

"Danieal Manning out for the year -- that's big. That hasn't been talked about because of the quarterback controversy and the poor play of Matt Schaub. But losing your starting safety -- that's big; that's your last line of defense before you give up a touchdown."
