Is Your Smart Phone Killing You?

Smart phone use is being blamed for sleep problems, hand, eye and posture afflictions -- even texting while asleep.  They're called cyber-sicknesses and we may see this even more.

Technical expert Peter Shankman says the youth of today are growing up with phones pre-eminent in their lives.

“My daughter is eight months old and she already recognizes what a screen is, and I'm trying to keep her away from it,” Shankman says.  “I'm waiting for the time I give her a book and she tries to swipe it.”

Shankman says he turns his phone off at night. He says problems are bound to crop up when some people actually check their phones up to 150 times a day.

How do you know you have a problem?

“Can you put your phone down at night?” he asks.  “Can you shut it off?  Can you avoid waking up in the middle of the night to check your e-mail, which interrupts your sleep.  You know, there are lots of different ways to prevent this from becoming a problem.”

And, no, your smart phone likely won’t kill you, but it’s apparently making some people sick.
