(Austin, TX) -- A Houston state Representative is bringing a coat hanger to protest a bill banning abortion at 20 weeks.
Representative Senfronia Thompson used the visual aids to put forth an amendment allowing an abortion after 20 weeks in cases of rape and incest.
Opponents of the amendment say women who are impregnated by rape or incest still have five months to get an abortion.
Thompson's amendment was tabled by a 90-to-54 vote.
State Representative Jodie Laubenberg says Representative Senfronia Thompson's amendment on allowing abortion in terms of rape or incest isn't needed.
