Houston Remembers the Fallen

Thousands gathered at Reliant Stadium to pay homage to the four firefighters killed in the line of duty last Friday.

Texas Governor Rick Perry, Houston Mayor Anise Parker, and friends and family were among those who spoke during the public service.  The Houston Fire Department has been greiving since the deaths of Matthew Renaud, Robert Bebee, Robert Garner, and Anne Sullivan.

"They lived as a family, 68 and 51,"Mayor Parker said. "They died together as family."

"Robert was the type of person who would put the needs and wants of others ahead of his own," said Bebee's brother.  "That's what made him perfect as a Houston firefighter."

"My brother died living his dream, and those that knew him know that he wouldn't have it any other way," Garner's sister told the crowd.

Over 5,000 firefighters attended the ceremony while firefighters from across the country came to Houston to cover the shifts of those local firefighters who attended the memorial.

The Houston 100 Club has set up funds for the families of the fallen, if you would like to donate to help those families in their time of need, click here.
