Houston Independent School District police are investigating an incident that happened around 8:26 a.m. today at Barbara Jordan High School in northeast Houston.
The campus officer was patrolling the parking lot when he spotted two people he thought were breaking into a vehicle. The officer approached them and ordered them to get out of the car. They didn't obey. Instead, the driver drove toward the officer. That's when the HISD police officer fired his weapon. The suspects escaped.
The incident remains under investigation. Meanwhile, the officer involved will remain on administrative duty until the investigation is complete, which is standard procedure when an officer fires his weapon.
HISD officials are expected to release an official statement at 11:30a.m. today. Tune in to Newsradio 740 KTRH for developing details.
