Extravagant Tips for Jesus at Bars and Restaurants

A group of mystery diners is leaving extravagant tips for waiters and bartenders around the country -- and writing the Twitter handle "@tipsforjesus" on the receipts. The tips have ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.

Even if it turns out to be something not really inspired by Jesus River Pointe Church Pastor Jason Pizzitola says it's still good.

"Maybe it's irrational; maybe it's a little extravagant. It's definitely sensational. But these guys are being generous and at the end of the day that's a good thing."

Dave Welch is Executive Director of the Houston Area Pastors Council. His son-in-law is a waiter.

"It's a tough line of duty and they work hard every day. Frankly most of them are under tipped."

Pastor Welch says whatever the motivation for the tips they're doing some good at Christmas time and that's good news.
