Expect Increased Security for Houston Marathon

The Chevron Houston Marathon is one of Houston's biggest sporting events. And in the wake of the Boston bombings, the Marathon is boosting security.

The Marathon's Vicki Oddi says there'll be changes.

"Maybe you would see increased security at the finish line; maybe there might be bag checks, but no specific plans have been set in stone yet."

Oddi says there will be more security along the Marathon route.

"I think it would definitely be police officers. There'll probably be an increased number of race officials. We'd also use a private security company."

The Marathon has plenty of time to decide -- the race isn't until MLK weekend in January. Early registration for runners began at midnight.
