More Houstonians have voted early than ever before.
Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart says by the time early voting ends Friday, over 80-thousand early votes will be cast, "We are actually breaking records, it is higher than it ever has been."
Stanart says the high numbers of early voters is attributable to the new voter ID law, "I think this campaign to help bring awareness of photo ID out has actually helped to some degree to awareness for the voters, so they turn out to vote."
Not only are Harris County residents early voting at the 40 early voting locations, but also over 20-thousand votes have been cast by mail-in ballots. Stanart says the deadline to vote early is 7PM Friday night, "...as long as your in line by 7PM you get to vote."
