Cougars' Home Field Half-Done

Cougars' Home Field Half-Done

The University of Houston is watching the new football stadium grow every day at the on-campus construction site.  The project is said to be half-finished and ahead of schedule.  Associate Athletic Director David Bassity says the new home for the Cougars will be more modern than Robertson Stadium, with countless features.

“With all the amenities for a good game day experience, especially in our premium seating,” Bassity says.  “We'll have a large club area, a number of suites and loge boxes.  We know today's fan needs more than just a football game to be entertained.”

A topping out ceremony was held yesterday at the site.

“We're going to play our first game in it next fall, 2014,” he says.  “We'll play all of our home games in it.  We hope to have everything completed in it by July.”

The new stadium will have 40,000 seats and will be a big help to recruiting efforts.  The Cougars have a 6-1 record this season with no true home field.
