Beachcombing is More Expensive

Police in Galveston are ticketing cars parked along Seawall Boulevard this weekend, even as the effort to stop paid parking hits another snag.

The Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of paid parking along the seawall, but plaintiff Greg Roof says the fight is not over.  His previous attempts delayed the revenue-generating program for nearly ten years.

Roof has been calling on the Texas General Land Office to stop the practice, and is now organizing a petition to get a paid-parking repeal placed on the ballot.

Police had previously been issuing warnings to violators, but the Labor Day weekend is the first where fines are being levied.
