Are you ready to give up that gas guzzler? Several industry observers say gas-powered vehicles could be displaced within 30 years. Auto industry consultant David Stivers says we're already taking steps in that direction right now.
“If you take a look, for example, in Los Angeles,” Stivers explains, “they're talking about adding special lanes on the freeway that are only open to electric cars or hybrid vehicles.”
Because the supply of oil is finite, Stivers says electric power is the future. It may take decades, but gas-powered cars will be faced out.
“Gas vehicles ultimately will be recessed,” he says. “They will sell fewer of them, and the reason is because the country is moving in the direction of electric power.”
