Ads Support the Keystone XL Pipeline

The American Petroleum Institute is running a series of ads in eight states to urge support of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.  API spokesperson Cindy Schild says 82 percent of U.S. voters support the pipeline, despite renewed opposition efforts recently.

The ads on television, in print and online will run while Congress is on its August recess.

Schild says the big advertising buy is aimed at solidifying support behind a project she says will mean a total of 42 thousand jobs.

“The ads emphasize that the Keystone XL pipeline is one of the few national issues that attracts consistent bipartisan support across all regions and all demographic groups,” Schild explains.

She points to a long list of prominent supporters, “including former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, public figures like Warren Buffet, and editorial boards at the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the USA Today."
