On-lookers cried shame, as HB 2 was passed in the Texas State Senate Friday.
The bill originally failed in the senate thanks to a filibuster by Senator Wendy Davis (D) during the first special session. It was a different story this time around as Lt. Governor David Dewhurst ran a strict floor debate and vote that democratic leaders could do little to stop.
The bill that puts restrictions on when abortions can be performed and where is the strictest in the nation. Governor Rick Perry has said he will sign the bill.
It is expected by experts that have spoken with KTRH that the bill will almost immediately face a court challenge with several lawsuits waiting to be filed as soon as the Governor signs it into law.
Similiar legislation passed in Wisconsin was recently overturned by a federal judge on the grounds it violates the U.S. Constitution.
