Conference to Focus on Music for Healing

The Music for Healing and Transition Program, an international organization which trains and certifies therapeutic musicians, will host its 2014 Biennial Conference Oct. 23-26 at Camp Allen, about two hours north of Houston in Navasota. In addition to expert speakers, the event will feature sessions on the use of music in health care and research on therapeutic music. Research has shown that appropriate music provided by trained professionals can ease anxiety, increase awareness, provide emotional support and decrease pain. For a full schedule, registration, fees, and driving directions, see www.mhtp.org.
